I've been listening to the brilliant BBC Radio 4 series, A History Of The World In 100 Objects, where Neil MacGregor, the director of the British Museum has chosen a different object from the museum's collection for each programme to tell the story of the history of humanity. It has inspired me to try and write a poem for each of those objects; not just about each specific object, but also based on the broadcast itself, taking into account the research, ideas and points of view by both Mr Macgregor and the various contributors involved.
